MERGING

When did the rules of the road just vanish from the mind? If you drive, you know exactly what I am saying here. No one does anything right out there. You have to constantly be on the defense, no matter what type of driver you are. This leads me to the “merging onto the thruway.” Imagine driving 55 to 60 on the thruway, slow in most places, in the right lane with on ramps every couple minutes. You know there will be cars coming into your path, so you are cautious but keep up the speed. Then the moment of truth. A car is heading onto the highway, you see them from a short distance back, so what do YOU do? For me, I somewhat coast so I am not hard-breaking on the thruway, but allowing that car to get up to speed and get over. Simple mechanics, in my opinion. It works 80% of the time. Not terrible, considering it’s the human race we are dealing with here. HOWEVER, that other 20%. I fucking can’t with them. It all starts with the no blinker shit. Yes, we know you are coming over, but just do the right thing!!! Then, it is the ride the ramp all the way to the end, still no blinker, all while not getting up to speed to enter the highway. You know what this leads to? Beside me losing my god damn mind, I have to slow down more than I should be, causing everyone else behind me to do the same, all while you could have simply used the rules of the road and merged smoothly. merged: (of a motor vehicle) move from one lane into a gap in the traffic in another lane. Oxford languages, in a Google Search for the meaning of merged THE MOMENT YOU GET ONTO THE RAMP, YOU SHOULD BEGIN STEPPING THE FUCK UP TO SPEED(as long as there is no traffic or other outside interference, use your sense now). USE YOUR BLINKER AS SOON AS YOU ENTER THE AREA WHERE YOU CAN YOU START MERGING! YOU ARE THE ONE ENTERING AN ONGOING EVENT, THIS MEANS YOU ENTER WITHOUT EFFECTING THE EVENT. EITHER MERGE BEFORE OR AFTER THE CARS COMING, BUT DO NOT COAST AND WAIT TO THE LAST MINUTE! OR here is the best…BLINKER OR NOT…THEY JUST FUCKING MERGE. THEY ARE COMING IN AND ANYTHING GOING ON AROUND THEM DOES NOT MATTER. THE MOST FUCKING DANGEROUS AND IGNORANT!! UGHHHHHHH!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……. Now there is this situation….. They do all the right things, ok. You are also doing all the right things, so this merge will be one of the 80%, woo! LFG! but they just won’t merge over. Now what the hell is happening and when is he planning on coming in? You’re slowing down, speeding up, breaking and hugging that center lane, freaking out those people now. MAKE YOUR MOVE DAMN YOUUUUUU! ughhhhhhh! Now once the initial merge is over with, you will have the same issues with lane merging. Let me introduce you to some:

“RACER” – Usually no blinkers. Everyone is ALWAYS going too slow, so they have to go in and out of traffic, with no regard, until their exit is reached. A carcycle if you will. Just reckless. “SCAREDY CAT” – Overuse of the blinker – turns it on way too early. The wait then begins, no one knows what to do. Go, slow, go, slow…their going to get overrrr….NOW! nope. ughhhh. So you speed up and, yep, here they fucking come. SMH. You knew it, damn it. Those kitties. Careless. “YOU WON”T HIT ME” – Flick the blinker on and off. These douches merge without looking, waiitng, nothing….they own the road and when they choose to get over, they will. You watch and slow for them. They use their blinker, so what’s the problem? They told you they were coming on in. SMH. These motherfuckers. Super dangerous. “TURTLE” – Use blinker properly. Awesome they let you know they are coming and merge pretty smoothly, but they didn’t NEED to merge at that moment and now traffic is slowed because of it. It’s Either they just get on and HAVE to get into that middle lane right away, so they squeeze into a spot that really isn’t there. OR they merge over, with nessecity or not, and go way under the speed of traffic in that lane. Turtle crossing. Obilvious. You know all of these people. I’ve, at times, been these people. But we have to acknowledge the dangers and lack of morals on the road. The only way we can grow is to see what is wrong in simple things. Things that already have rules set in place for a reason. Order, so there is no chaos. -krz
